Patricia Hewitt MP has been given a £60,000 job on the board of BT, a company she 'worked closely with' as Trade Secretary.
Firstly, it is wrong and unnecessary for MP's to have a second job, they obviously have found enough to do within their constituency and are therefore failing those they represent.
Secondly, a Secretary of State, whether they hold office still, or are just plain MP's, should NOT be rewarded by company's they previously 'worked with'.
MP's have no right to demand our trust, as past events have shown, especially with this Labour government, and transparency, clear transparency not the opaque type Blair and Brown always talked of, must be apparent.
No grouping of politicians can be trusted, that is why we need to see the House of Commons filled with Independent MP's who are directly answerable to the electorate and cannot hide behind political colours.
